Got a Tip?

Watch: New Trailer For ‘Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones’ Belongs In The World Of The Mundanes

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Here we go again…it’s the new trailer for “Beautiful Instruments: Breaking Hunger Bones.” Okay, we kid, but really, how generic (and kinda low budget) does “Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones” look? Yet another YA franchise hopeful coming this summer, we’re still not even sure what it’s about, except that in this movie humans are called “mundanes” and that’s just about perfectly describes this latest promo.

Lily Collins leads the movie playing Clary Fray, a young girl who discovers she has the power to see Shadowhunters, but most importantly, the British one who likes to speak in riddles. Turns out Clary can see between worlds or something, which seems to involve hanging out at raves and battling otherworldly beings in hotel banquet halls with crossbows and shooting beams out of the palm of her hand. Or something. A prequel is already in development, which is cute and all and is par for the course these days, but we’ll see if that actually happens.

‘Mortal Instruments’ arrives on August 21st.

  1. The books are great. The characters are great. The story is great. Not once did it make me think of Harry Potter/Buffy. And it is not predictable. You'll see.

  2. I hope this succeeds in theaters! While I'm not that big a fan of TMI, TID is an absolutely wonderful series, and I can't wait to see a film adaption! It isn't cheesy nor predictable at all, and the characters all seem so raw and real, not always good and heroic, but human, as they make the wrong decisions sometimes as well. I think YA novels should stop portraying their characters as amazing do-gooders who succeed at their every endeavor, and take a glance at real life.

  3. I hate it when City of Bones is compared to other YA novels, as while having quite obvious plots, TMI is a great series with lots of character development and real, passionate relationships. If you'd bother to actually read the books instead of judging a book by it's cover, you might know that as well!

  4. The acting seems a bit cheesy and it seems like they left a lot of important scenes out, but I will be very disappointed if this movie sucks. I love the books so much, I don't know if I'd be able to handle it?

  5. I love these books to bits, they better give the books justice. With all of the terrible YA books and movie adaptions lately, I hope these amazing books are awarded with a great adaption.

  6. lol, it looks terrible. Not really that surprising though, Cassandra Clare was known back in her Harry Potter fanfiction days to be a known plagiarized.
