So what happens when you pair fantastical director Michel Gondry with noted linguist Noam Chomsky? Well, it’s pretty much as you might expect; a hybrid of their personalities on film, with the filmmaker’s whimsy paired with Chomsky’s musings in a movie that could only be called, “Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy?“
Way back at the beginning of this year we
glimpsed the first trailer for the movie, and now a new one has arrived which demonstrates Gondry’s animated approach lending a lightness to the otherwise intellectually demanding endeavour. The project has been in the works for a while now, with Gondry recording a series of conversations with Chomsky, and then painstakingly crafting a movie that’s been hand-animated in his own unique style. And the results are both playful and intriguing, philosophical and fun too.
The film will have its world premiere as the closing night selection of DOC NYC and will open in limited release starting on November 22nd. Watch below.
