He may not have taken home an Oscar on Sunday night, but hopefully his performance in “12 Years A Slave” made it clear that any time Chiwetel Ejiofor is on the screen, he’s a must-watch presence. And coming this spring is another movie that will give folks a chance to check out his range.
Co-starring Thandie Newton, Dominic Cooper and “Attack The Block” star John Boyega, “Half Of A Yellow Sun” is based on the bestselling (and Orange Prize for Fiction-winning) novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and follows the lives and loves of four people against the backdrop of the 1967-1970 Nigerian-Biafran war. Biyi Bandele adapted the screenplay and directed, and while the film hit TIFF, London and AFI festivals last fall, the buzz around it has been rather limited.
“Half Of A Yellow Sun” opens in the U.K. on April 11th. No U.S. date yet.
