Not content with simply rebooting slasher franchises like “Friday The 13th,” “Nightmare On Elm Street” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes decided to tack their approach to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and the results we’ve seen thus far seem to be horrific indeed. A first trailer last month debuted our first look at the terrifying Turtles in action, and now another has followed with a few more insights into the direction of the film.
With a human cast including Will Arnett, Whoopi Goldberg, William Fichtner and Megan Fox, “Battle Los Angeles” director Jonathan Liebesman has mounted an increasingly bizarre combination of cast, source material, and approach. Unfortunately the new trailer only throws in a few new glimpses of the film’s action setpieces, but we know we’re getting the Turtles’ origin story wrapped up in intrigue and conspiracy, Tony Shalhoub as Splinter, and of course the motion-capture/voice performances from the heroes themselves: Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Noel Fisher (Michelangelo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), and Johnny Knoxville (Leonardo).
We’ll have to wait until August 8th to see if Liebesman can pull this reboot off, but take a look at the “TMNT” trailer below and let us know your predictions.
There was a video with 80s TMNT played over the TMNT trailer on reddit video which made it much more epic.
Fichtner is Shredder.
horrific? I'm actually digging this, could be a fun movie. Maybe forgettable, but nice to watch at the movies with friends and a big bucket of pop-corn. And although the gritty approach and decimated city plot have been overused, the new turtles looks rock. anyone with me?
What happened to talking about the "uncanny valley"?
…it's William Fichtner, but he doesn't look like playing the Splinter here…
Its William Fitchner. Not Tony Shaloub. Do you still have Gabe Toro writing stuff for you?
