The law of comedy movie marketing dictates that, about a week to ten days before your R-rated movie is released, you put out a red-band trailer. It’s a good chance to get some of your best gags, or at least some of your sweariest and/or boobiest moments out before a crowd.
And right on cue, we get one for “The Hangover Part III.” Chances are you already know if you’ll be seeing the third installment in Todd Phillips‘ mega-trilogy, but if you happen to be on the fence, this new promo spends half its running time reminding you of some of the best bits of the previous two films, before blasting through some Alan-and-Chow heavy moments from the latest picture.
From what we’ve seen, we’re hopeful that the new film will mark a step up from the dismal second film — they have at least broken with formula, and we kind of like the dark crime-comedy vibe that they’ve gone with. But if Season Three of “Community” taught us anything, it’s that a little bit of Ken Jeong goes a long way, and he seems to be all over this new movie, which we think could get tired very quickly. Anyway, watch the new trailer below, courtesy of /Film, as well as a new featurette. “The Hangover Part III” opens next Friday, May 24th.
Hangover III: Chang Overload
"if Season Three of "Community" taught us anything, it's that a little bit of Ken Jeong goes a long way" well said.
That Red Band trailer is missing the 'red band' and looks like a fan trailer.
