Time to shake up your early Oscar predictions once again. We always knew that “Diana,” the Naomi Watts starring biopic about the late People’s Princess, would figure somewhere in the awards season race, and now we have our answer.
Entertainment One has slated the movie for a November 1st limited release, and with Watts as a two-time nominee—earning a nod last year for the disaster flick “The Impossible“—one can only imagine she’s jumped up in the odds. The film, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (“Downfall“), will tell the tale of Diana’s relationship with Pakistani heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews), the man she considered “the one.” And as you’ll see in this new international trailer, the movie not only chronicles her rocky affair with with the doctor, but also includes Dodi Fayed, the man she was with when she died.
Watch below and see if this is a contender or not. And given the timing of the release date news, we can only surmise this will pop up in Telluride this weekend. [THR/Premiere]
I can't wait! It just keeps looking better and better!
