Jake Johnson got his start appearing in small roles on television and in movies before striking gold with the Fox sitcom “New Girl,” one of the better comedic half-hours on television. And with the show only in its fourth season, he’s starting to see bigger opportunities come his way. He voiced Barry in “The Lego Movie,” he’ll soon be seen in Seth Rogen‘s “Neighbors,” and he’ll spend his “New Girl” hiatus filming “Jurassic World.” He’ll also get his first major leading man, summer movie role in “Let’s Be Cops,” but he’ll have a familiar face by his side.
Damon Wayans Jr., his “New Girl” co-star (who has returned to show as a regular after appearing in the pilot), joins him in this one which dropped its first red band trailer today. And while it doesn’t look like much of a stretch of their onscreen personas, it seems like the duo are making the most of the opportunity to play in a bigger sandbox. The plot itself is straightforward, following two dudes who discover that dressing like cops gets them girls and respect. But of course, they take things a bit too far, getting them into more trouble than they bargained for.
Luke Greenfield (“The Girl Next Door“) directs and this one goes on duty on August 13th. Watch below.
Nick and Coach as cops looks quite funny
