Despite all the teasers and posters, toys and other ephemera, there are still plenty of unanswered questions about "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Where is Luke Skywalker and why is he absent on the new poster? Will there be yet another Death Star? Is Ex-Stormtroper Finn (John Boyega) officially a Jedi or is he just using the lightsaber, seen in posters and a previous teaser, without proper training? Will the CGI characters played by Lupita Nyong’o and Andy Serkis finally be revealed? And is Rey (Daisey Ridley) related to the Skywalker family? After all, in the first full-length ‘The Force Awakens’ trailer, Luke says, “The Force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it. You have that power, too.” It’s actually a line from “Return Of The Jedi” as Luke reveals to Leia they are siblings (spoiler!), but obviously it was added because it has resonance in these new films.
And it’s already been confirmed that the new cast of ‘Force Awakens’ find Luke’s lightsaber that he lost in “The Empire Strikes Back” when his hand was cut off by Darth Vader. Does that mean Jakuu— the new planet in the movie — is above Bespin where the behanding took place? Is Boyega related to Lando Calrissian since there’s a Bespin connection now? How many possible theories can we possibly spin??
Meanwhile, we do know that Daisy Ridley is at least a key part of the next "Star Wars" chapter. Producer Kathleen Kennedy recently revealed Ridley’s character, Rey, is “extremely significant” but of course, then teased, “I don’t want to spoil the story.” We’re guessing we’re about to learn more from this new trailer, as plot details start to be revealed.
Directed by J.J. Abrams, and also featuring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow, ‘The Force Awakens’ arrives on December 18th. Watch the new trailer below. look closely for all the new reveals and, as usual, let us know what you think.
Really ratchets up the nostalgia buttons. Designed to satisfy people who are already Star Wars fans or the pre-teen crowd to welcome them into this world. Looks like a well calibrated trailer for what will be a well calibrated movie that will be huge at the box office.
I\’m not a hater at all. I just lost interest in the franchise after PM. Believe me: I saw the original in the theater 12 times, which included waiting hours for the opening. I hardly "hate" SW. I just couldn\’t really get excited at this point. OTOH, that Daisy woman is super-cute. But I\’ll wait until cable.
Simply stunning. This one\’s gonna be emotional.
Did nothing for me. Was hoping for something with the atmosphere and grandeur of "Empire Strikes Back" – this looks more like a CW tv series spin off.
Haters suck. You know you are gonna first in line for this. Force Awakens was shot on film….unlike Revenant. This film will be great
Looks fan made.
Nothing spectacular. Now I could watch The Revenant\’s trailer all day long.
Shrug.
