Landing on our list of The Most Anticipated Blockbusters Of The 2013 Summer Season, “Pacific Rim” had been playing a bit cagey until this point, keeping the monsters mostly teased instead of shown, but today Warner Bros. has unleashed a helluva trailer which promises the monster vs. robot mayhem most have been hoping Guillermo Del Toro would be delivering.
A lengthy, two minute and thirty second long trailer has dropped and while this originally unspooled to WonderCon and CinemaCon audiences only, the rest of us now get to check it out. It reveals a lot more with Charlie Day going full nerd as the monster expert, more training sessions which involve martial arts for some reason, Ron Perlman (obviously) and like we said, monsters versus robots action. Lots of it. Films with high concepts are always a dicey prospect (“Cowboys Vs. Aliens” anyone?), but Del Toro seems to have nailed the tone to keep it from being too goofy (it’s still kinda goofy) and with the fate of the world on the line, the stakes are appropriately high.
“Pacific Rim” roars into theaters on July 12th.
This looks fucking awful.
Dumbest movie of the year.
Sons of Machinery
Not quite sure that ship would have been constructed with enough structural integrity to withstand being picked up out of the water and swung like a bat. Just sayin'.
Well, it's pretty much Godzilla vs. Mecha-Godzilla with a budget…
THE PICTURE IS WAAY TOOOO DAAAAAAARK! I can't see anything. Seriously. And with 3-D …? Color me seriously worried.
