Winner of the Toronto International Film Festival People’s Choice Award and one of the critical darlings of the fall festival circuit, right now Steve McQueen‘s “12 Years A Slave” is the awards season horse to beat. Fox Searchlight isn’t wasting a second of the momentum out of Toronto and Telluride and with the slavery drama gearing up to hit theatres, another segment from the movie has landed along with a TV spot with a bit more footage as well.
Chiwetel Ejiofor leads the film as Solomon Nothrup, a free black man tricked into slavery, and this clip perfectly encapsulates his plight both physically and spiritually. After that is the TV spot with is a bit more rock ‘n roll, with impassioned snippets of dialogue, clanging chains and transmitting the fierce determination of the lead, while highlighting the fierceness he faces in the form of Michael Fassbender and Paul Dano among others. Both are just a little taste, but when you can see the whole thing?
