What are you doing next Monday night? Well, Marvel hopes you’ll be watching "Jimmy Kimmel Live" where Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper will all be on hand to push "Guardians Of The Galaxy," which has its world premiere and will start screening for critics next week. And it’s part of the studio’s push on the public at large as well, hoping to acquaint them with these characters and get a sense of who they are before they buy a ticket next month. And so that means more epic marketing is on hand.
So below, you’ll see a clip (an extended version of one that has been floating for a while now), featurette, posters and TV spots that all offer variations of stuff from the movie. But maybe you want more? Well, how about rumors about a surprise cameo in the film? Spoilers ahead. Stitch Kingdom reports that Howard The Duck—yes, that Howard The Duck—will be making an appearance in the film, with the cameo revealed from the credits scroll of the film (see below). This matches with stuff we’ve been hearing too, and we’ll just say that you’ll want to keep your eyes open during the film. It’s a pretty ballsy way to bring back the character mostly known for the infamous 1986 movie, but James Gunn seems like the right guy to do it.
"Guardians Of The Galaxy" opens on August 1st and will screen at the Fantasia Film Festival.
Steve Gerber was a fantastic writer and the comic world is a lesser place without him. Whether it was Howard the Duck, Man-Thing, The Defenders or Dr. Fate, the man really knew how to entertain a reader.
