Even though Marvel isn’t making a big deal about their property "Big Hero 6," which will be released courtesy of Disney Animation (Marvel Comics isn’t even going to reprint the comics on which they’re based), the film is surely exciting a certain segment of fans. But Disney knows they have to reach far beyond the fanboys to make this movie —which isn’t based on a toy or a comic book anybody has heard of— appealing to Mom and Dad Ticketbuyer and their kids. So this latest trailer does a pretty good of job of doing just that.
While the story is set in a cool looking future, this promo sells the movie as a tale of endearing nerds who use their skills to fight off a pretty weird looking supervillain wearing a kabuki mask with the assistance of a giant inflatable white thing. Yeah, not your average Disney joint, but it looks warm and inventive in the right spots, and certainly we’d take this over [insert random sequel for movie we didn’t care about in the first place]. And the visual gags are a lot of fun too. Less fun? The limp, hooray for everything, faux alt rock.
"Big Hero 6" opens on November 7th.
The music in the trailer is so awful I refuse to admit I want to see this.
