Update: Steven Speilberg’s “THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN” has jumped up two days and will now be released on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011.
Yes, “The Adventures Of Tintin” is coming, but unless you’re overseas, you’re still going to have to wait. So while the marketing ramps up in Germany and now Spain, we’ll just have to take what we can get.
In this case, we have a snazzy new trailer with a good amount of new footage, but alas, you’ll need to be up on your Spanish. No matter as “The Adventures Of Tintin” still looks like a riproaring continental adventure worthy of the curvy haired hero and his pal Snowy. And you already know the talent behind this one. Of course, there is Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson taking on directing and producing roles respectively, with a script from the trio of Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, and a great cast that includes Jamie Bell, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Andy Serkis, Mackenzie Crook and more. The mo-cap work here looks great, and you know what? We might even go so far as to say the 3D could be a solid added benefit to the already dazzling animation.
So yeah, we’re looking forward to this. The film opens across the pond on October 26th and lands in the U.S. on December 23rd.
I don\’t quite understand the release date move. So Paramount now has TWO (potential) blockbusters BOTH opening in IMAX on December 21 (the other being MIssion: Impossible – Ghost Protocol)? I get the need to maybe distance Tintin a bit more from Spielberg\’s other holiday film, War Horse (12/28), but Paramount doubling up with two IMAX movies on the 21st is just plain weird. Regardless, I still can\’t believe I\’m getting a Fincher movie (Dragon Tattoo on the 21st as well) and a Cameron Crowe movie (Zoo on the 23rd) in the very same week. As long as they don\’t mess with that, let them do whatever they want.
