Congratulations, “Jurassic Park,” you’re now old enough to drink: Steven Spielberg‘s dinosaur adventure, at the time the biggest-grossing film in history, is twenty-one years old, having been released on June 11th, 1993. As Gareth Edwards‘ “Godzilla” just proved, it’s one of the most influential blockbusters ever made, and should be right back in the zeitgeist again with the release of next year’s sequel/reboot “Jurassic World,” from director Colin Trevorrow and starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Omar Sy and Jake Johnson.
To mark the release (presumably?), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (via JoBlo) have released the first in a new online-series of documentaries called ‘Moments That Changed The Movies’ focusing on the film, and the way that its digital effects change the course of filmmaking history. It’s a good little watch, and clocks in at only about ten minutes, so it’s more than worth taking the time to celebrate the film’s birthday, and to count down to the release of “Jurassic World,” which hits theaters on June 12, 2015, 366 days from now.
