We’ve already seen the plethora of pictures of Michelle Williams looking the part in “My Week With Marilyn,” but the question now is, can she act the part as well? And if these newly released clips from the movie are anything to go by, the actress has that nailed down as well.
These are simple looks at the film, each less than a minute long. The first has Marilyn singing and seductively bathing in the bathtub, while her young English assistant Colin Clark watches, clearly smitten, while the second showcases her performing a less showy, more seductive version of “Heat Wave” than the one she delivered in “It’s No Business Like Show Business.” Williams effectively captures the innocent sexuality Monroe projected, and her wriggly stage persona that was coupled with a knowing confidence about just how to use her looks to her advantage.
Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Dougray Scott, Derek Jacobi, Dominic Cooper and Emma Watson round out the cast for the picture that opens on November 23rd. Watch the clips below. [the second clip courtesy of Moviefone]
Right, it has a 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from all the critics who have seen it so far, because the Playlist was the ONLY site to give it a bad review, huh?
Wrong.
The Playlist was one of the only sites to give the film AND Williams performance bad reviews. Sure, the film hasn\’t gotten raves across the board, but Williams\’ pretty much has and I wish this site would get on board with it 🙂 Don\’t be a grinch, she\’s quite spectacular in her interpretation of Monroe and you can\’t deny that she lights up the screen in every single scene. She\’s getting that damn Oscar if Harvey Weinstein has anything to say about it (and he damn well does!)!!!
