Michael Fassbender has got you covered this year. If you’re not in the mood to watch the actor in blockbuster mode via “X-Men: Apocalypse” or “Assassin’s Creed,” you can see him flex his well respected dramatic chops in the upcoming “The Light Between Oceans,” and a brand new trailer for the film has landed.

Directed by Derek Cianfrance (“Blue Valentine,” “The Place Beyond The Pines“) and co-starring Alicia Vikander and Rachel Weisz, this adaptation of of M.L. Stedman‘s best-selling novel sees lives become intersected following a surprising discovery. Here’s the official synopsis:
On a remote Australian island in the years following World War I, lighthouse keeper Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender) and his wife, Isabel (Alicia Vikander), discover a boat washed ashore carrying a dead man and a two-month old baby.
Rescuing the infant, they make the decision to raise her as their own but the consequences of their choice prove to be devastating.
“The Light Between Oceans” opens on September 2nd.
Surprised by Disney placing it on September 2, because it looks promising, if a little melodramatic. All the talent involved has been on a tear for a while so fingers crossed
This looks great. One of my favorite directors.
