NASA says they’ll make it to Mars sometime in the 2030s, but author Andy Weir, who is seeing his book "The Martian" being turned into a blockbuster sci-fi effort by Ridley Scott, thinks we’ll be waiting a bit longer for astronauts to hit the red planet. "My stock answer is probably around 2050," he said in a recent Q&A at George Washington University (via Daily Mail). "I know that sounds further away than most people would like to hear, but the technology necessary to get there and the costs of getting there are just very high and it’s a big challenge." But thankfully there’s fiction to get us there a bit sooner.

Pick me up when you are there.
hated the awkward improv clip released yesterday… but this looks interesting… although I doubt it\’ll be as engaging as old Zowie Bowie\’s Moon w/Rockwell.
Holy shit… So excited for this.
Looks good but I really hope it captures more of the humour of the book that seems mostly absent from this trailer.
This girl would like to volunteer to be the first to bring him home. Please?
