Yes, the Dardennes have done it again. It’s almost a crime how easy they make it look, and this year they hit Cannes with another new film, and as usual, they earned rave reviews. Now, "Two Days, One Night" is making its way to theatres in the UK and the festival circuit in North America, and a new clip has arrived.
Marion Cotillard leads the movie telling a very simple story, following a woman who has one weekend to convince her co-workers to give up their bonuses so she can keep her job. And while that might seem like a bit of a downer, Jessica Kiang wrote in her review out of Cannes that the film is ultimately "uplifting and affecting." And of course, Cotillard is in top form, with this clip showing what she can do by not saying a word, and simply listening to Petula Clark‘s "La nuit n’en fini plus."
"Two Days, One Night" opens in theatres and on VOD in the U.K. on August 22nd. There’s no U.S. release date yet, but the film will screen at TIFF and NYFF.
I loved this clip! It's about time for a US release date! WTF the distributor is waiting for? this movie can finally give a second Oscar nomination to Cotillard!

This performance must be a contender, last year by this time we had Adele Exarchopoulos and Cate Blanchett. By now all we have is this groundbreaking performance by Marion Cotillard, and I think no one will beat her. But I'm expecting to see her at least among the nominees of globes, sags, baftas and oscars.
The depth of her performance is clearly unlimited. Marion Cotillard immerses herself into her every role so deeply you end up watching a character's life unfolding in front of your eyes every time, not an actress playing a part. That's something actresses of indisputable qualities but obvious acting limitations (like Sandra Bullock or Reese Witherspoon) could never achieve. Let's be honest, naturalism is the most important thing in regards to acting. When combined with the technical skills and the level of commitment that Marion Cotillard displays with such ease in every character she brings to life, the result is pure brilliance. Just give this woman her second Oscar already!
