Well, it’s not quite Paul Thomas Anderson directing a music video for Radiohead, but M. Night Shyamalan is the latest filmmaker to take a detour into helming a promo for an artist, but for this venture, he mostly steps back from putting his authorial stamp on it.
The video for Andra Day‘s “Rise Up” finds the singer belting out her tune, with an inspiring story to go along with it. It’s the second video helmed by a big time filmmaker, with Spike Lee delivering Day’s “Forever Mine” last year. And it’s a good way to get some eyeballs and attention on the music. So, mission accomplished there.
