Got a Tip?

Watch: Kurt Russell & Jay Baruchel Are Master & Apprentice In Trailer For ‘The Art Of The Steal’

The Art Of The Steal Jay Baruchel

TIFF comes and TIFF goes and there are lots of movies that due to scheduling, the need for sleep and the necessity of food, just don’t get in front of our eyes. And this year, one of them was “The Art Of The Steal” which brings together the ragtag crew of Kurt Russell, Jay Baruchel, Matt Dillon and more for a heist comedy. We like heists (check out this feature), we like comedy, but does this work?

The answer: shrug. Not really bad and not really good either, this first trailer presents the “Ocean’s Eleven“-lite tale centered Crunch Calhoun (Russell), a third rate motorcycle daredevil and semi-reformed art thief, who agrees to get back into the con game and pull off just one more big time score with his untrustworthy brother Nicky (Dillon). Crunch reassembles the old team and comes up with a plan to steal a priceless historical book, but the successful heist leads to another, far riskier, plan devised by Nicky. Twists and double twists ensue, with lots of banter and quips along with the feeling of deja vu from countless other similarly (low) budgeted efforts.

Hitting VOD first on February 7th, 2014 if you really need to see this on the big screen, you can do so on March 14, 2014. Watch below. [FirstShowing]
