In 2011, the BBC spy series "Spooks" — know in the U.S. as "MI-5" — called it a day after ten seasons. But like anything these days that might’ve had a fanbase or some sort of popularity, revival is the name of the game. And so, four years after it closed the books on the small screen, the show is returning for a big screen outing, and the first teaser trailer for "Spooks: The Greater Good" is here.
Peter Firth returns as Harry Pearce, with Kit Harington and Jennifer Ehle also on board for the movie that will track the hunt for an escaped terrorist who has threatened to set off a bomb, while a young MI5 agent searches for his mentor who has disappeared. Granted, I have never watched the show, but this sounds still very much like a television plot, but perhaps the execution will be big-screen-worthy.
Series veteran Bharat Nalluri directs, and this arrives in the U.K. on May 8th. Watch below.
Highly recommend all the episodes with Matthew MacFadyen in them (first two seasons and a bit). A midpoint between work-a-day and Bond. Things then get a little silly for a while with ominous evil SPECTRE sorts providing season story arcs. Still fine.
This…might…work…
