TIFF is now underway, and every genre fan’s heaven, and every bleary-eyed critics’ nightmare, is the Midnight Madness section, where the festival unveils the best (and sometimes worst) horror and action fare they have to offer. There’s lots to look forward to this year, but probably nothing quite as high profile as "Tusk," the latest film from the still un-retired Kevin Smith.
Like his previous picture, "Red State," the film is a shift into horror-movie territory for the "Clerks" director and podcast king, featuring Justin Long as a podcaster (write what you know, we guess) who interviews a strange old man (Michael Parks) who captures him, and attempts to turn him into a walrus.
Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez also star, and the film will premiere at TIFF tomorrow, before A24 releases the movie on September 19th. Will it prove a return to form for the filmmaker? Here’s hoping, and there’s certainly something to like in the first clip, which just arrived. Take a look below, along with some new photos.
