So, ‘Hunger Games‘ fans, here is the first teaser trailer for the film and the big question is: how does Jennifer Lawrence fare as the book’s hero, Katniss Everdeen?
Not all the fans of the books have been won over by the casting thus and with this first real look at the film debuting tonight at the MTV Video Awards, that debate will continue. But for the rest of us? Yeah, Lawrence is looking pretty comfortable with that bow and arrow. Granted, there’s not much in this spot (hell, it’s still filming) except for voiceover dialogue from Liam Hemsworth as Gale and Lawrence running through the woods and jumping over explosions but the actress looks like she’s holding her own in her first tentpole-leading role.
“The Hunger Games” hits theaters on March 23, 2012 with the sequel “Catching Fire” following on November 22, 2013. Check out the first taste from the forthcoming franchise monster below.
well at least we were spared from Josh Hutcherson the hobbit\’s ugly mug. I notice that so far the Lionsgate is playing up the Katniss and Gale thing. They used Gale\’s voice-over for the first teaser and they released a picture of Katniss and Gale hunting for the first set of promo pics. Josh looks like Jennifer Lawrence\’s unfortunate little brother, really bad casting there.
Weak. Don\’t really get the point of releasing footage so early if this is the best they can do. I think they killed buzz more than built it.
And Lawrence still looks too soft to me.
god, this sneak peek was horrible all around.
Is this really a monster franchise? I never heard of this book series until it was picked up a movie studio. Harry Potter I was at least very aware of before Warner Brothers even got around to looking at it.
Seriously disappointing, Lawrence still isn\’t it for me.
And boy, they better work on that CGI.
so underwhelming. And where is Gale\’s Appalachian accent? if the author insists on doing readings with terrible southern accents, the actors should be forced to do so as well.
I dunno if this movie is going to be huge, but ret assured that the books are. They\’re not quite Harry Potter huge, but then nothing is. I personally know half a dozen people who have read them and are crazy about them, and begin talking about them at odd moments, though, so this isn\’t just an internet thing.
I wasn\’t that excited by the trailer, though. And is it just me, or did Jennifer Lawrence\’s face look really weird when she was introducing the video?
The Internet is not everyone.
@Paul : Well too bad for you, everyone\’s talking about this book even before the Lionsgate acquire for the rights.
