It would seem Harvey Weinstein has quieted down about getting Jake Gyllenhaal an Oscar nomination for "Southpaw." And indeed, he’ll have a hard time making people remember this movie by the time "Creed" comes out later this year. But Gyllenhaal is always one to watch, and undoubtedly he gives it his all for "Southpaw."

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, and co-starring Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, and 50 Cent, the story follows a boxer beset by personal tragedy, who has box his way back to redemption both inside and outside of the ring. But he’ll have some help from old pals and a soundtrack led by Eminem. Here’s the official synopsis:
