Given that the series was pretty dumb from the start, an Honest Trailer for "Taken" and "Taken 2" seems like shooting a fish in a barrel. But we suppose it serves as a reminder that before the marketing team for "Taken 3" started taking the piss out of the franchise themselves, this was something being treated seriously.
Screen Junkies brings you back to the first two movies in the trilogy, which they rightly compare to "The Hangover." The first time around we got an effective, if simplistic, action flick that showed a new side to Liam Neeson and became a surprisingly huge box office hit. And thus, a sequel was commissioned that was essentially a tepid remake of the first movie. The standard tropes of the series have been the same throughout—throat punches, swarthy bad guys, lots of cell phone calls, and explosions—and even though "Taken 3" changes the game somewhat, it’ll probably be much of the same. For a retired special agent, Bryan Mills certainly racks up the body count.
