So, in a couple weeks the “RoboCop” remake comes out, and truth be told, it kinda looks grim (seriously, just watch this first clip to see how wonky the tone is). But the good news is that the 1987 original still rules and hasn’t aged a day, and now here’s pretty solid reminder.
The folks over at Screen Junkies have dropped another Honest Trailer, this time for Paul Verhoeven‘s film, and it’s nice trip down memory lane. From the one liners, to the glorious days when R-rated movies were marketed to kids, the video is solid look back what they call a “masterpiece.” Was it corny at times? Sure. Are some of the elements kinda dated? Yep. Does it still rule? Absolutely. So, for the young ones who might only know about the version coming out in February, watch this and then run to your local video store (if you still have one) or buy it online and Instagram about it or whatever it is the kids do these days.
For comparison’s sake, the “RoboCop” remake opens on February 12th, if you’re interested. [Live For Films]
Masterpiece. Endlessly rewatchable, mainly due to the vision of Paul Verhoeven, a vision today's photocopy blockbusters could only dream of.
