When Julianne Moore took the Best Actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival this year, there was some surprise. Many thought Marion Cotillard deserved it for her turn in the Dardennes‘ "Two Days, One Night." But if you want to get an idea of the fearlessness in Moore’s performance that clearly won the jury over, perhaps this clip will help. Warning: it’s very, very NSFW.
David Cronenberg‘s Hollywood satire takes its aim in a variety of places, with Moore representing a particular breed of aging actress, desperate to stay relevant and do anything to land a juicy part. And in this scene, we see her in a therapy/massage session with a hot New Age guru played by John Cusack. And during their session, Moore’s character flashes back to one incident that found her in the midst of a threesome with someone who could help her land a big role, and gets peeved when he takes a call and fails to mention her name. It’s an already absurd scene taken over the top when the man in the middle stars idly playing with his penis, watching the two women make out in front of him. Like we said….NSFW.
"Maps To The Stars" arrives via Focus World in 2015. Watch below.

Great movie, but that one, terrible looking
cgi scene take me complete out of it.
Sad cause Cronenberg was always creative
with his Special Effects.
"oscar bait movies that hipsters and old people will eat up?"
LOL. i can only imagine the meeting where these films were greenlit:
who are our target audiences?
hipsters and old people!
and folks who like the oscars!
great troll, mass.
Yeah, and both of those Reese movies are roll of the eye cliche "oscar bait" movies that hipsters and old people will eat up.
You don\’t have to knock Reese in order to praise Julianne. They\’re both pretty. Reese is also getting Oscar buzz for The Good Lie, and she produced Gone Girl. I hope Julianne and Reese can work on something together someday. In the meantime, Julianne is breathtaking in MTTS, she deserves all the awards.
Wow, Julianne Moore\’s performance looks phenomenal, once again! My God, she can play anything, literally anything. This woman doesn\’t have an Oscar but Reese Withersppon has and gets Oscar buzz again for "Wild". Alright. That\’s just laughable.
It\’s like The Canyons, only with real talent and scenes that work (respect to BEE, though)…
