Is "Crimson Peak" the movie Guillermo del Toro has been waiting to make his whole career? Judging by the words of one of the film’s co-stars, Charlie Hunnam, indeed it is. And as a new trailer for the R-rated scare flick drops, the actor’s enthusiasm is hard to ignore.
"It’s beautiful, it’s him absolutely in his wheelhouse. It’s a classic Gothic romance set against a backdrop of this very rural house in the middle of nowhere," Hunnam told Details. "Everybody did a great job, Jessica [Chastain] absolutely killed it, she’s wonderful in the film. I think it’s one of Guillermo’s best films, if not maybe his best film. I’m actually not really in it that much, it’s really Mia Wasikowska, Jessica, and Tom Hiddleston‘s film, and when I’m in it, it’s significant, but I really just did it because I love Guillermo and wanted to work with him again. If it had been anybody else, I probably wouldn’t have taken the role."
High praise indeed. And we can’t wait to step into del Toro’s depiction of a period horror. Here’s the official synopsis: In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.
"Crimson Peak" opens on October 16th. Watch below.

She\’s been dead the whole time, right?
Looks AMAZING. Not gonna lie though the domestic trailer (like so many) seemingly spoiled the entire plot for me. But we will see it is in Del Toro\’s nature to throw us for a loop.
I love Guillermo and this looks beautifully made, but I just can\’t get excited for the story or the thrills here.
Can\’t wait! My favourite GDT films are Devil\’s Backbone and Pan\’s Labyrinth. This looks like it falls right in with those.
