This holiday season you can see history come alive, gritty crime dramas, blockbuster spectacles, cutesy family fare, and flat out musicals. But only Paul Thomas Anderson will give you some legitimate groove, and his "Inherent Vice" is arriving in a haze of pot smoke, draped in beads, with a lava lamp on the bedside table. That’s a long-winded way of saying a new trailer has arrived.
While the first spot was decidedly much more wacky, this one takes a long lean back and chills out a bit, with Joanna Newsom once again narrating the framework in which Joaquin Phoenix‘s Doc Sportello tries to get to the bottom of the disappearance of a real estate mogul. It’s a trippy movie the way only PTA could make it, and will be unlike anything else in cinemas, and by the way, it’s also among our 20 Best Films Of 2014.
"Inherent Vice" opens in limited release this Friday, with a bunch of Saturday screenings in select cities (Austin, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Oakland, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver).
