The bickering buddies format is so familiar, it’s hard to believe that it can still be used and seem fresh, funny and vibrant, but sometimes you just need the right mix of talent. David Gordon Green, Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch are just that in “Prince Avalanche,” and a brand new, charming trailer is here to convince you to get out of the house this summer, hit your local arthouse and settle in for a real treat. (It’s on our list of Best Films Of The Year…So Far for a reason).
Anyway, in case you’ve somehow missed it, the movie is a remake of the Icelandic film “Either Way,” tracking two city workers spending their summer months working together on the roadways of a county highway ravaged by wildfire. But as you’ll see, the movie opens up into something that’s so much more, and like we said out of Sundance, it’s “a wonderfully eccentric examination of unlikely friendships that illuminates the absurd and lovely corners of life, [and] a deeply enjoyable, wondrous delight.” (Yep, we’re quoted in the trailer).
Also featuring a great score by Explosions In The Sky and David Wingo, “Prince Avalanche” opens on August 9th.
