So far, the 2013 movie season has been pretty dreadful. Aside from Oscar-nominated pictures going into wider release, there hasn't been much to choose from at the multiplex, but relief is around the corner. Steven Soderbergh continues the run into his hiatus with one of two movies he'll be dropping this year, the thriller "Side Effects." A brand new U.K. trailer featuring lots of new footage has arrived to serve up a fresh look at the film.
Starring Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones the story centers on a young woman who turns to pills to deal with the anxiety when her husband is released from prison. But they don't put those warnings in those TV ads for nothing, and soon a lot of freaky stuff starts happening, with murder, sex, blackmail and all kinds of unsavory stuff seemingly coming into play. Screenwriter Scott Z. Burns has said that the movie is his attempt at a "modern noir" and this latest look certainly has that flavor.
"Side Effects" will get you treated on February 8th. Watch below. [Guardian/Bleeding Cool]
Isn't that Ann Dowd at 0:16? Anyway, it looks great and I can't wait for it!
it's interesting the way this shifts focus onto jude law – for uk auds maybe, as he's a bigger star name in uk – but it casts him in a totally different light from the US promo stuff, in which he came across as the villain. now he seems to be the hero. just marketing, or spoilers?
