Man, that Benedict Cumberbatch is everywhere these days. “Sherlock,” “The Hobbit,” “August: Osage County” and “12 Years A Slave” (both last year). His IMDB page alone (and we know that’s not comprehensive) lists seven upcoming films for the actor, three in post-production, two in pre-, and two announced. And he’s even lined up to play "Doctor Strange" in Marvel’s upcoming film about its sorcerer supreme superhero.
This year, in addition to “Penguins of Madagascar,” Cumberbatch is lending his talents to “The Imitation Game,” in which mathematician Alan Turing (Cumberbatch) helps crack the enigma code used by Nazis in World War Two.
Ahead of the film’s November 28th U.S. release date, Studio Canal, which is distributing in France and the U.K. (The Weinstein Company has U.S. rights), released a new 30-second TV spot that offers a glimpse at Turing and his breakthrough ideas about how to decipher German messages. Sad fact (spoiler alert?), he died before he turned 42 from what was deemed suicide. Two years earlier, he had been prosecuted for homosexuality, which was then still a criminal offense in the U.K..
