As we learned from the”Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” poster “controversy,” sex sells. Indeed, it speaks any language, and even though this first teaser trailer for “Gemma Bovery” is entirely in French, all you need is a set of eyes (or even one) to understand what exactly the marketing team behind this one wants you to notice.
Starring Gemma Arterton and Fabrice Luchini, the film is based on Posy Simmonds‘ graphic novel, a reimagining of Gustave Flaubert‘s “Madame Bovary” that updates the tale to a contemporary setting, and finds the titular character living as an English expatriate in Normandy. And it seems director Anne Fontaine (“Adore,” “Coco Before Chanel“) knows exactly how her camera should drink up her lead actress. No wonder Luchini is so excited about this.
No U.S. release date for this one, but it opens in France this fall. Check out the trailer and stills and posters below. [HeyUGuys]
She\’s one of the most beautiful women I know, and ah euh.. English is such an annoying language.
Dave is such an annoying idiot.
you learned that sex sells a couple of weeks ago?
are we supposed to believe that she is married to him? pretty unconvincing. french *is* annoying, but it'll be a break from gemma's fake-posh accent.
oh good, another film shot at pervy angles where gemma plays a sex object. appreciated.
French is such an annoying language.
Is Gemma Arterton the most beautiful woman in the world? I think she bloody well might be.
I really liked 'Tamara Drewe' and, since this is based on another novel by Posy Simmonds, it might be just as good.
