“The Birth of a Plan Gone Wrong!” That’s the tagline for “A Deadly Adoption” the upcoming Lifetime movie starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig. Ferell and Wiig have apparently long admired the ridiculousness of many a cheesy Lifetime movie, so much so that they worked with the network to create their own not-so-subtle send-up. And kudos to Lifetime for having a sense of humor and seeing the press upside to it (sooo many more people will be tuning in to this one than the network’s usual time wasters).

But it all came delivered a little scrambled. Ferrell and Wiig wanted the movie to be a secret and when the news was leaked, Ferrell claimed the whole project had been scrapped. What the press didn’t know was that the movie had already been shot and the comedian was just trying to deflect. Here’s the official synopsis:
Inspired by a true story, "A Deadly Adoption" is a high-stakes dramatic thriller about a successful couple (Ferrell and Wiig) who house and care for a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes from "90210") during the final months of her pregnancy with the hopes of adopting her unborn child.
A teaser trailer was unveiled last week and now in the lead-up to the movie, the full she-bang has arrived. Watch below in all its ludicrous glory. "A Deadly Adoption" arrives on June 20th.
This is about the 150th time Lifetime has remade this tired story. I sincerely hope this is a joke.
Not one single joke in the whole trailer, save for the fact that it\’s a LIFETIMEtm ORIGINAL MOVIE. Now THAT\’S comedy.
Spoof? Outside of the comedy baggage of the casting, the trailer reads like they played this "Lifetime"style straight, cheese and all. It actually looks less amusing than their typical offerings precisely because of the casting.
Are we sure Kristen Wiig didn\’t pull a "Welcome to Me" and cast herself in a Lifetime movie simply because she could…
Would be better in Spanish.
With these two in in, what else is there to do but watch it?
I know I\’ll be watching this.
