It may have taken nine years for Jonathan Glazer to deliver his third feature-length film, but the wait for “Under The Skin” has been more than worth it. Knocking out Playlist writers who saw the movie in Venice, Telluride and Toronto (see our review and 5 Reasons Why Jonathan Glazer’s ‘Under The Skin’ Is One Of The Best Films Of The Year), the film is a visually dazzling piece of work, packed with enough ideas that you’ll need a couple of viewings to dig beneath its many layers. The first teaser dropped a few weeks back, but now a longer version—almost twice the length—is here and it’s another great peek at the movie.
While much as been made of the Scarlett-Johansson-stars-as-a-man-eating-alien premise, the film is not the arthouse “Species” some would have you believe. Instead it’s a remarkable piece of immersive filmmaking, with Glazer revealing to us in our interview that they plunked the actress in the street with non-actors/regular people, and using up to eight cameras, shot many of the scenes in the movie on the sly. They would seek release forms once scenes were finished, and the approach is a rather ingenious way to transmit the idea of aliens discovering our world and its inhabitants.
Definitely one of the highlights of our fall festival season (we talk about it on our latest podcast), “Under The Skin” is one you’ll want to be keeping an eye out for in 2014. Watch below. [ONTD]

Appears to be a (continuous) clip from the film attached in front of the first teaser. Interesting still, offering a closer/extended listen – through the clip – to what sounds like a the original music/soundscape from the film.
