While celebrities may always bemoan the lack of privacy, none of them have lived with the kind of scrutiny that faced Diana, Princess Of Wales. A marriage into the royal family turned into a lifetime in the tabloids, with a tragic ending that set the world mourning, and paparazzi on pause… for a few days anyway. And now the story of her last great love is hitting the big screen in what could be an awards season contender.
A new, full international trailer has dropped for the movie, showing much, much more of the movie that will be arriving later this year. Naomi Watts leads the pic as the Princess, who suddenly finds her falling Dr. Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews), a Pakistani heart surgeon, who seems nonplussed by who she is. Instead, he simply loves her regardless of her title, and it’s a union that eventually becomes frayed by the clicking cameras at their door. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (“Downfall“), it looks like fairly standard biopic territory, though the performances seem to be the key here.
Still no official U.S. release date for this one, but we presume it’s coming later this year via eOne (though maybe they’ll wait to see how it does with critics on the fall festival circuit first). [Vlicious!]
I think Diana was in love with Dodi.
This looks great!
Excellent trailer with Naomi Watts absolutely reliving the Diana legend, down to a speaking alphabet. An Oscar for her is on the way for sure.
his looks fantastic. Naomi Watts really makes an excellent portrayal of the late Princess. She is totally into the character with every move and word she speaks as seen from this trailer. Very impressive and definitely another milestone performance by the actress.
She looks nothing like Diana.. but she may be a good enough actress to make the part believable.
Naomi looks enough like Diana and that's what it takes to get nominated for best actress, and that's all that matters to this movie. can't wait this trend of manufacturing Oscar-bait biopics to stop!
