We just watched the first trailer for Tsui Hark’s “The Taking of Tiger Mountain 3D,” and we won’t lie —we want to see the full skiing sequence. Now.
The 3D epic opens Christmas Eve in China (no U.S. info yet), and is likely to be big. Tony Leung Ka Fai, Lin Geng-Xin and Zhang Han-Yu star in this thriller, which is set in the 1940s and tells the story of a spy dispatched to infiltrate a group of extremely dangerous bandits. And did we mention there’s a skiing sequence? From what we can discern, there’s a pretty epic chase —on skis!— down a mountain, through a village (the combatants fight while zipping down the roof of a house) and ultimately over a massive chasm! More please!
English speaking audiences will be a little lost as far as the story goes, as the trailer’s in Mandarin and an earlier teaser doesn’t elucidate much. But we don’t think that will hinder your viewing experience much. The film has action, some comedy, and even bullet time. What more could you want?
