We’ve been waiting a bit for Tom Tykwer‘s ("Run Lola Run," "Cloud Atlas") "A Hologram For The King" starring Tom Hanks. The film is based on the book by Dave Eggers, and I figured this movie might’ve been primed for Sundance, Berlin or SXSW. Instead, it’ll be hitting the Tribeca Film Festival, which runs April 13th through the 24th, before opening wide this spring, and finally a new trailer has arrived.

Co-starring Alexander Black, Sarita Choudhury, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Ben Whishaw and Tom Skerritt, this dramedy follows a desperate American salesman who heads to Saudi Arabia to land a lucrative IT contract. Here’s the synopsis:
In Tom Tykwer’s wryly comic adaptation of Dave Eggers’ novel, Tom Hanks stars as a struggling American businessman who travels to Saudi Arabia to sell a new technology to the King, only to be challenged by endless Middle Eastern bureaucracy, a perpetually absent monarch, and a suspicious growth on his back.
"A Hologram For The King" opens on April 22nd. Watch below.

How did Tom Hanks get stuck with this turkey?
boring.
The book was great but this looks bad.
Seems not only terrible, but nothing like the tone of the (quite good) book!
Looks like a male version of Anna and the King. Who wants to see that?!
Wow, Tykwer has really fallen, hasn\’t he? At least The International and Run Lola Run still hold up.
Yikes. The hell was that trailer?
wow I thought these kind of trailer voiceovers had died out!
Paid for by Saudi Arabia Tourism Board
That looks utterly horrid.
