It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Tarsem; he is the mono monikered director behind “The Fall” and “The Cell.” After being absent for a few years, he made up for lost time in 2011/2012 with the almost one-two punch of “Immortals” and “Mirror Mirror” — both films were released within five months of each other. And while neither did much to quell the criticism that Tarsem is style over substance, they did decent enough worldwide business to keep the Tarsem brand in business. And so his latest is the biogenic sci-fi thriller “Self/Less,” which is about an extremely wealthy man dying from cancer, who undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man. Of course things like this don’t always go according to plan.
Ben Kingsley stars as the older scion, Ryan Reynolds his younger self, and the movie also co-stars Matthew Goode, "Downton Abbey" star Michelle Dockery, Natalie Martinez, Derek Luke and Mariana Paola Vicente (who’s getting a lot of 2015 time with "Hot Tub Time Machine 2," "Get Hard" and "The D Train"). A semi-mysterious biogenic viral clip was released earlier this week (which you can see below in case you missed it) and now a full-blown teaser trailer has arrived.
Written by David Pastor and Àlex Pastor (“Carriers,” "Out Of The Dark"), “Self/Less” is due in theaters from Focus Features on July 31st.
Is this a remake of Seconds?
Do you even know what the word "monosyllabic" means?
I just miss Ishioka\’s costumes.
It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Tarsem; he the monosyllabically monikered director behind “The Fall” and “The Cell.”
Tarsem is two syllables.
