"A Little Chaos" was selected as the closing film of Toronto International Film Festival this fall, but there may be a reason you forgot or didn’t hear much about it. It’s not that good. Our review called it "a lackadaisical picture, far removed from anything remotely exciting as chaos." But the cast and the story is tempting, and perhaps this trailer will convince you to give it a whirl.
Starring Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Stanley Tucci and Alan Rickman (who also directs), the story follows the clash between an architect and a landscape designer who work together in building one of the main gardens at King Louis XIV’s palace at Versailles in 17th Century France. Of course, romance isn’t too far behind. Listen, I’ll watch anything with Winslet, but honestly, I’m not sure I can get past "Flowing Mane Of Hair" Schoenaerts. But this otherwise looks like a pretty familiar mix of class and gender issues, all presented in dapper French accoutrements.
"A Little Chaos" opens on March 27th. Watch the U.S. and U.K. trailers below.
