Bella and Edward might be walking away into that immortal sunset, but for fans of YA franchises, 2013 is serving up a whole heap of options. Of course, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" continues that new hit series while two more on the way: "Beautiful Creatures" which we've much from already and now, "The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones." Does it have what it takes to be the next pop culture phenom?
The first trailer has arrived and….well, you tell us. Based on the book by Cassandra Clare, 'Mortal Instruments' tells the story of a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray, who discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.
Is Lily Collins the next Jennifer Lawrence or Kristen Stewart? Does this have what it takes to stand out against the other supernatural teen dramas coming? (And remember, "Divergent" is just also on the way). Watch the trailer and tell us your thoughts. 'Mortal Instruments' opens on August 23, 2013. [MTV]
look good!
This looks 1 million times better than any Twilight fim.
Reads as incredibly, insultingly derivative. "Mundanes"? I guess the author was banking on "muggles" being forgotten. I mean, that's shameless. This really makes me nostalgic for the Harry Potter movies. Worlds beyond in terms of quality. Even The Hunger Games looks like high art compared to this. At least Twilight was novel
Bleh. Same old chosen one, hero's journey, secret war hidden in plain sight, stuff we've seen a million times before. Seriously, not a single thing in this trailer was original.
looks great. im sure it\’ll be at least a thousand times better than Twilight.
