If you ever wanted the Amanda Knox story fictionalized, put up on the big screen, and told through the eyes of a struggling director, then Michael Winterbottom‘s distinct approach to "The Face Of An Angel" is for you. But for anybody else looking for legal drama, controversy, or even anything resembling a pulse, they might want to look elsewhere. Still, the stars may be enough to draw you in and the first full length trailer for the movie is here.
Daniel Brühl, Cara Delevingne and Kate Beckinsale star in the movie which pivots around a director who is hired to make a movie about a sensational murder trial in Italy surrounding a young American student (sound familiar?). But when he gets there to do further research, he strikes up a relationship with a young bartender. The movie tends to focus more on that angle instead, and also becomes an indictment of tabloid culture, but is ultimately a picture we called self-serious and "eternally out of reach."
"The Face Of An Angel" opens in the U.K. on March 27th and in the U.S. on June 19th with a simultaneous VOD/theatrical bow. Watch below.
I have been puzzling over the whole case in my mind all day , I going to have to see the film to see which performance caused such a upheaval in there court system , I have no doubt that they were mesmerized by Kate\’s beauty and talent , her acting would make any man willing to believe anything she says , I Love studying the Law ,, I myself like the rest of the male audience is mesmerized by Kate , I\’m of Italian descent , I\’m torn now
one must consider when making a film about an ongoing court cases, especially murder cases to never release the film until two years after the final verdict , I think people from the Italian court system were keenly watching the making of this film and no doubt it had an effect on the addle brained Jurists there causing them to want to retry the case , thank God for Double Jeopardy over here , it at least gives the Girl a case for an argument should extradition proceeding begin
