With a roadmap all the way to 2020, and grand plans that include a two-part "Justice League" movie and more, Warner Bros. is throwing down hard with their DC Comics slate. But it all starts with "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice." With filming wrapped, the long post-production process and marketing campaign begins on the Zack Snyder-directed film, and the first taste has arrived.
What we know so far: Henry Cavill again suits up as Superman, Amy Adams is back as Lois Lane, Ben Affleck puts on the cowl as Batman, Jesse Eisenberg shows up as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, and Jeremy Irons takes over the part of Alfred. But what of the plot? Not many hard details have surfaced, just rumors and chatter, while speculation swirls about which "Suicide Squad" members (if any) may pop up with that movie, which opens just a few months later.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, ‘Batman v Superman’ has a lot riding on it. Can Affleck reboot Batman in a post-Nolan world? Can Snyder actually check himself and make something a bit more nuanced and less of a punch-fest than "Man of Steel"? Can this movie take two of the biggest comic book icons and history, put them in the same movie, and make it work?
Watch below and find out on March 25, 2016.
I hope Batman mechapunches Supes while saying "go to sleep go to sleep go to sleep…"
Can\’t make a good movie from a dumb idea. I\’ll pass, thank you. Back to DAREDEVIL on Netflix — so much better than any superhero movie tripe of recent years. (Might just go rewatch Nolan\’s superb BATMAN trilogy tho).
@Murdoch — Great comment!
Ben Affleck is Bruce Wayne in Gotham Sniper. Directed by Zack Snyder, Produced by Christopher Nolan and Clint Eastwood. Coming for your Academy Awards in 2016.
I can\’t wait. This movie is gonna be so awesome!! These guys are all just jealous. It\’s gonna be so badass!
I just keep wondering why? Why make this movie now? Isn\’t that the last choice you would make, to make this vs movie. Isn\’t there a lot more to explore with just superman?
Weeeeeeeeaaaakkkkkk…
I think Affleck brought in Chris Terrio, the dude who wrote Argo to do a pass on the script, so maybe there is something there to sort of scrub away Goyer\’s more pronounced questionable writing. They seem to be trying and that is a good thing.
Not inclined to want to see this. However, the fallout from a recent NY Post article re the Sony hacked emails has revealed that Affleck is the desecedant of slave owners, and this may give new meaning to the origin story of Blackman–I mean Batman. Wayne,–oops!- Affleck tried to have that item quashed.
Depends how it\’s executed. The whole \’modern messiah\’ theme has me intrigued. But that also seems like a pretty big theme for a comic book movie. Man of Steel was so dull for the last 45 minutes. Just like watching a normal fight scene fastforwarded FOREVER. Think Snyder is capable of creating some pretty stunning stuff, but always lacks the necessary weight throughout. Hope that I\’m wrong.
Ooooof… That\’s pretty bad.
Looks great. I prefer the dark tone even if it\’s going out of fashion. It\’s easier to believe in the characters in such a world. The marvel stuff is too glib. Feels like A-Listers swapping quips. Visual design of this film looks cool as well.
Well, to be honest I kindda like the trailer. I think that to go the "power corrupts" angle for superman is not a bad one. I\’m not a Snyder fan at all, but on a capable director\’s hand that plot could give interesting results.
Not sure that Snyder has the necessary chops though.
What\’s the point of doing another version of Miller\’s Dark Knight Returns now? Nolan already used a lot of those themes and plotlines in his third Batman film.
I\’m assuming that Irons as Alfred at 01:00 >. What\’s his nickname in this? Mr. Ominous? I thought Nolan\’s films were dark and gritty, Snyder clearly wants to top that level of darkness. Can\’t wait to see what he does in the next film, maybe he\’s bringing in the Joker to rape some babies.
C\’mon people, it\’s@ a zack Snyder movie. One of the most ham-fisted directors in Hollywood.
Why would they erect a statue of Superman when half of that damage was caused by him in the first place?
All those questions you asked at the end of your article…the answer is no.
More like \’Yawn of Justice\’!!!
Amirite guys?
yeah, it\’s a rather dull teaser. i guess it\’ll be a very heavy cgi-fest and not much of it is finished yet. however, the "false god" bit seems the kind of overought heavy-handedness Snyder is known for. expect zero subtlety in this one, folks. man, why the hell is DC making Superman a dark and gritty hero similar to Batman? boggles my mind.
Nothing about this trailer gets me excited. May be because \’Star Wars\’ teaser has me at the moment, but. Dull. Just dull.
