We’ve had such a wealth of great documentaries released so far this year, now it seems as if the “mockumentary” wants to get in on the action. Weeks after HBO released their gloriously goofy, “30 for 30”-skewering tennis mockumentary “7 Days in Hell,” IFC has thrown their own silly hat into the ring with a mock series entitled “Documentary Now!”
Set to air on Thursday nights, starting on August 20th, “Documentary Now!” stars Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, and each week they’ll deliver a different parody of the documentary form.
The first episode, which is introduced by Dame Helen Mirren, is titled “Dronez” and features Hader and Armisen touring the town of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico in search of the infamous “El Chingon.” The results are pretty damn funny and you don’t need to have watched “Vice” to get all the jokes. How do we already know the first episode is funny if the show hasn’t aired yet? Because the series premiere is available in full on YouTube right now! Do yourself a favor and watch it below.
