Close your office door and turn up the volume. A clip from “The Tree of Life” has landed which will hopefully temporarily sate your anticipation for the film that will hit Cannes in just over a week and theaters later this month.
EW has dropped the first non-trailer look at the film and if anything, it confirms that Brad Pitt‘s role as a domineering bastard of a husband and father is no joke. Upon finding out that he is away on a trip, the children of the house freak out, running wild and scaring their mother (Jessica Chastain) with a lizard. Also, that whole house is some kind of 1950s set decoration porn. Good Lord.
“The Tree of Life” opens on May 27th. Now stop reading and check out the clip at the link above — we’ll add an embed when one becomes available.

What the fuck?? I\’ve never seen any movie that FELT like this before. I don\’t know how to explain it, but the way this movie is presented (those roaming shots on the wide lens, the performances, the way it\’s assembled) is really unique. I have no idea how the actual movie will be, but this is a really evocative scene. Awesome.
Lordy. I love this already.
It\’s beautifully assembled sound & image-wise, but it also evokes something deeply personal. And I\’m sure others can relate to this scene as well — I mean, I love my dad in concept, but his presence usually made us kids uncomfortable.
