If you’re imprisoned for two decades with no access to the outdoors, your options to keep your sanity are limited. You can either succumb to your situation, or in the case of Joe Doucette, played by Josh Brolin in Spike Lee‘s “Oldboy,” you can start preparing for the day when the opportunity will arrive to exact some vengeance. And that’s just what he does in this latest preview for the film.
The remake of Park Chan-wook‘s twisted classic still remains a fascinating mystery for the most part, but within a few weeks we’ll soon see how Hollywood tells this tale. But what we can tell from this red band promo, is that nothing is being softened when it comes to violence and sex, with plenty of flesh and blood on display. Of course, many are wondering if one particular element from the 2003 original will be retained, and if so, how it will be treated. But whatever we get, it’s sure to be an interesting adaptation.
“Oldboy” arrives on November 27th. Watch below. [Esquire]
