Watch: Extensive 2 1/2 Hour Talk With Bill Hader About His Career, Films And More

Bill HaderIt’s fair to say that Bill Hader’s offscreen persona is more of a mystery than most actors’, given that it’s been cloaked by a "Saturday Night Live" character like Stefon or a celebrity impression like James Carville or Al Pacino. Even at James Franco’s Comedy Central Roast, when most comedians insulted Franco to his face, Hader opted to dress up as the Mayor of Hollywood, forgoing the opportunity to get personal.

Much of that mystique is stripped away to delightful effect in a new two and a half hour episode of "Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show," in which Hader candidly discusses everything from being a lowly production grunt on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Collateral Damage” to NBC‘s standards and practices department’s consternation regarding Stefon’s love of the word “midget,” to “The Skeleton Twins,” his upcoming drama co-starring Kristen Wiig in which he plays a depressive failed actor (read our review here).

Hader seems like an easygoing guy, with more wide-ranging experience in the entertainment industry than you might think. His path to stardom began when he was rejected from Oklahoma University and decided to enroll in an entertainment program at a community college. He met “Paper Heart” director Nicholas Jasenovec at a film program in Arizona, and the two decided to move to Los Angeles together.

There’s also an anecdote about meeting Michael Bay at the Playboy Mansion, in which Hader narrowly avoids calling him a prick.

“The Skeleton Twins” comes out September 12th.
