Watch: Exciting ‘Inception’-Esque Teaser Trailer For ‘Mobius’ Starring Jean Dujardin & Tim Roth

As “The Artist” star Jean Dujardin prepares to make strides into Hollywood with roles in Martin Scorsese‘s “The Wolf Of Wall Street” and George Clooney‘s “The Momuments Men,” he’s got a nifty little thriller on the way that looks very, very promising. Dare we even say “Inception“-esque?

First reported earlier this year, Dujardin co-stars with Tim Roth and “The Kid With The Bike” and “Hereafter” actress Cecile De France in “Mobius” and this first teaser for the movie is certainly unexpected and exciting. Opening with an eerie explanation of what a mobius strip is, with a very Hans Zimmer-esque score, and followed by a title treatment that recalls Christopher Nolan‘s hit, this one still stands out as something potentially unique. Written and directed by Eric Rochant (“Love Without Pity”), the picture is set in the high-stakes financial world, and follows a spy tracking down a Russian oligarch facing allegations of money laundering through his own bank. But it seems there is much more at play.

Shot in Belgium, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Russia, and Monaco, “Mobius” opens in France on February 27th. Unfortunately, no word on U.S. distribution just yet but hopefully this preview gets some phones ringing. Watch below.

  1. It's in french with bits in russian and english (Rochant live-tweeted during shooting and is blogging during post-production which is almost over). Rochant said that Mobius would be a love story stuck in a high tension espionage context. His reference for the movie is Hitchcock's "Notorious". Lots of talent in this production (beside the actors obviously). Alain Attal is the successful (and omnipresent -cameo included- for "his" movies) producer of Guillaume Canet's movies (among them "Tell No One"), Maiwenn's gritty "Polisse", the upcoming and already buzzed comedy '"Populaire". And Rochant is regarded as the director/screewriter of the best french spy movie ever ("Les Patriotes", part of the official Cannes selection in 1994) and the director / screenwriter of the excellent TV serie "Mafiosa" from 2008 to 2010. According to the newspaper L'Express, "Mobius" could be shown to the selection committee of the Berlinale if ready in time, and anyway, it will be released at the end of February in France.
