Well, the Olympics kick off this Friday and you know what that means…nope, not the finest display of atheletic talent from around the world (okay, there's some of that too) but a relentless barrage of advertising as these sacred games provide the springboard for everyone to hawk their wares at the millions who will be tuning in. As usual, ad budgets usually go up, with companies trying to top one another other with their talent and getting out of the gate is Samsung.
They hired Terrence Malick and Alfonso Cuaron bud and five time Oscar nominee Emmanuel Lubezki to helm a spot for the Galaxy S III phone, starring none other than David Beckham. If you're expecting some kind of elegiac spot, guess again, as it's a pretty standard piece with a lot of people doing extreme stuff while rocking the various features of their mobile device. Far out! Sort of seems like a wasted opportunity frankly, but we suppose for Lubezki, a gig is a gig. Anyway, check it out below. [SamMobile]
