For most folks, a movie about a poet probably isn’t the most enticing prospect, but there’s never been a poet quite like Dylan Thomas. He was as close to a rock star as the medium could get, and his American tours in the 1950s made headlines. Now the story of his stateside jaunt is getting the movie treatment with "Set Fire To The Stars."
Led by Elijah Wood and Celyn Jones, who plays Thomas, the movie tells the story of the poet’s first visit to New York City in 1950, as shown through the lens of a fellow wordsmith who goes on a week long retreat with him. As you might guess, trying to contain Thomas and get him ready for the general public is no easy task.
Directed by Andy Goddard ("Downton Abbey"), the movie is presented in lovely black-and-white photography, and co-stars Kelly Reilly, Steven Mackintosh, and Shirley Henderson. "Set Fire To The Stars" opens in the U.K. on November 7th. There’s no U.S. release date or distributor just yet. [Live For Films]
